IBPS SO Examination 2016: Analysis and Expected Cut Off

IBPS conducted the Specialist Officer examination for various posts in the participating organizations on 29^th January 2017. This year, there was a drastic change in the examination pattern as all the sections except the professional knowledge paper are qualifying in nature. That implies your marks in the professional knowledge section will be taken into account for merit listing for the next round i.e. the interview round.

Reasoning Ability: Analysis and Expected cut off

This section was moderate in nature since most of you are well aware of the question pattern of this section. The pattern of the questions was as follows:

Based on the overall analysis, the sectional cut off for this section is going to be high. Apart from the puzzles, other questions were overall easy and with sincere practice, you can attempt these questions correctly. The sectional cut off may be as follows:

Quantitative Aptitude: Analysis and Expected cut off

This section was overall moderate in difficulty level and most of you will be able to score well in this section if you have sincere practice in various common topics of mathematics. This section was, however, not there for Law Officer and Rajbhasha Adhikari. The exam pattern was as follows:

This section was overall moderate in difficulty level and that will result in the cut off soaring high. You need to score well in order to even cross the sectional cut off in this section. The sectional cut off is expected as follows:

English Language: Analysis and Expected Cut off

This section was again the most difficult one in the whole paper and surprised a lot many students. You needed to give your best shot in order to stay afloat in this section. Your basics and in depth knowledge are tested to the core for this section. The pattern for this section was as follows:

This section proved to be very difficult for the aspirants because of the surprising nature and the unexpected level of difficulty in this examination. The sectional cut off is expected to be adjusted according to that:

General Awareness: Analysis and Expected Cut Off

The General Awareness section was based on questions from banking industry, static general knowledge and current affairs. The pattern was not at all unique and most of you will be scoring well in this section with your daily preparation. This is going to affect the cut off towards an upward revision and the same is expected as follows:

Professional Knowledge: Analysis and Expected Cut Off

This is the most important section for this year’s examination since your marks in this section will only be added to the list for short listing candidates for the interview. The section for most of the disciplines is moderate to difficult in nature. You were expected to know in depth of your subject in order to clear even the sectional cut off (if there will be one but chances are bleak since your marks in this section will only be counted for interview selection). However, for the time being, the expected cut off may be as follows:

You will get to know the answer of your question very soon whereas your result status is going to be declared on or before 16^th February 2017. The expected cut offs for various posts have been predicted based on the following factors:

• Number of vacancies
• Previous year cut off
• Difficulty level as compared to previous years
• New pattern of selection

 Disclaimer: The above cut off is just an analysis based on various factors responsible for affecting the cutoff of an examination. However, the cut off will be released officially by IBPS in due course of time and that will be final and binding on the aspirants, as and when it comes.

The IBPS Specialist Officer Examination results are coming on or before 16^th February 2017 and all of you must be waiting for that. In some aspects, specialist officer job is actually better as compared to PO and for people who are eyeing  for banking career only as a stepping stone for something bigger, SO is the a better choice any day, hands down.
